Abhijit Jain, an assistant business professor at NMU, will host an upcoming Skill Builder about the Indian language and the roots and modern representations of common Indian words used in America. Some of the words whose meanings will be discussed include nirvana, dharma, karma, yoga and curry. Jain, who is from India, said that although he has no formal knowledge on the subject, he is extremely interested in the subject matter. Jain added that he encouraged students who have an interest in the ways other cultures influence America to attend the workshop. The Skill Builder will be on Monday, Oct. 8 in the Back Room of the University Center.
