If you are romantically challenged, dating deprived or clueless about courting, have no fear — the “dating doctor” is coming to NMU.
David Coleman has been called “America’s real-life Hitch,” and specializes in helping couples foster a stronger relationship.
“He’s being brought to campus as part of a campaign to raise awareness about being respectful in dating situations,” said Lenny Shible, specialist in the Health Promotion Office (HPO). HPO and the office of Bill Bernard, Associate Provost for Student Services and Enrollment, are sponsoring this presentation.
The campaign includes posters, other resource materials and last semester’s “Can I Kiss You?” presentation.
Shible said Coleman’s presentation will be much more interactive than just an average lecture with students.
“He provides observations about how relationship problems can be overcome in a humorous and entertaining way,” said Shible.
The event takes place on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in Jamrich 102. Shible said that a “date-night package” will be given away to a lucky couple in the audience.
Shible said the purpose of the event is to foster more discussion between partners in relationships.
“Whether your relationship is going great, needs a little work or needs an overhaul, this is a great way to get some insight about how to make things better,” Shible said.
