A Bundle of Experience

Currently on display in the DeVos Art Museum’s back gallery is a mixed-media exhibition organized by NMU art student Paul Goodrich. The inspiration for the show, and its title, was derived from a quote of well-known artist, Buckminster Fuller: “I’m not a genius. I’m just a tremendous bundle of experience.” Wanting to create a space that will function as ‘a bundle of experience,’ Goodrich invited fellow student artists to join him in creating a mixed-media installation exhibit. In addition to Goodrich, the show features the artwork of Nick Lewy, Tyler Modzeleski, Jeremy Halka, Cameron Strand and Stevie Shakes. A Bundle of Experience is a part of the DeVos artLAB effort to transform the back gallery space into a “learning laboratory,” providing both faculty and students with the opportunity to exhibit their work and/or curate short-run shows. Also on display at this time are: I Know What Art Is and I Know What It Isn’t, curated by Sean Stimac; Selections of Student Work from the Digital Cinema Program, curated by Daric Christian; and U.P. FOCUS, featuring the work of Upper Peninsula Artist’s Ryan Brayak and Emily Lanctot. The DeVos Art Museum hours are Mon. – Wed. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Thurs. 12 p.m. – 8 p.m., Fri. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sat. – Sun. 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
