About us

The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

Jamrich Hall Demolition Date Set

The demolition of Jamrich hall on the Campus of Northern Michigan University is set for Monday May 12th.

Campus officials will start to make determinations on what can be salvaged from the building before fencing will be installed around the perimeter of the building. Then, work crews to begin the tear down process.

From that point on, the the building will be closed for the remainder of the summer.

The Demolition is expected to be completed by the first week in August to allow time for crews to prep the area ready for the return of students for the fall semester.

Lot 25 on the north side of McClintock will be closed for construction equipment access to the site and will reopen before the start of the fall semester.

Pedestrian access will remain open between new Jamrich hall and the existing Jamrich hall demolition site for the duration of the summer.
