The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

Three men charged with maintaining meth lab after chase

Three men were arrested early Tuesday morning after engaging in a high-speed chase. Jack Pelto, 20, Bobbie Weymouth, 21, and Nathan Knotek, 31 were all charged with maintaining a meth lab. An active meth cook was discovered in the vehicle.

The car chase began near McClellan Ave. and the US-41 Bypass at approximately 2 a.m., according to a press release made by the Marquette Police Department. The high-speed chase ended on M553 and M-94.

In addition to maintaining a meth lab, Pelto is charged with fleeing and eluding and driving on a revoked license. Weymouth had an outstanding felony warrant for armed robbery, which he was charged with.
