About us

The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

Junior goaltender Atte Tolvanen turned away 19 of 20 shots in the WCHA Championship game last Saturday against Michigan Tech University. Tolvanen posted a .950 save percentage and finished
the game with a 1.03 goals against average. Tolvanen was also recognized as top goalie in the WCHA this season, starting all 35 games, culminating in a 23-10-1 overall record, turning away 736 shots for a save percentage of .908.
