NMU’s Conservation Crew gives students the opportunity to gain experience in conservation and get off of campus and into nature, Lynnae Branham, senior environmental studies and sustainability major said. The conservation work is more than just manual labor, it incorporates data collection, research and monitoring the environment. The Conservation Crew explores all those aspects. Members have been busy this semester with efforts to keep local parks clean and monitoring streams to identify different aquatic species, Nicholas Potyok, senior information assurance and cyber defense major said. “Working outside alongside like minded individuals striving towards a common goal is a rewarding experience,” Branham said. The Conservation Crew meets at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays in Jamrich room 3130.
