The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

Makaylee Kuhn earns GLIAC North Player of the Week honors

NMU Women’s Basketball’s Makaylee Kuhn has been awarded the GLIAC North Player of the Week; her second award in three weeks. 

The sophomore guard averaged 23.5 points per game, five rebounds per game and four assists per game in the series against Ferris State this past weekend. The Wildcats split the series against the Bulldogs, but Kuhn stood out with 31 points in the first game and 16 in the second game. Kuhn won the Player of the Week award two weeks ago after her 38-point outing in a victory over Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday, Jan. 10. 

NMU (4-2) is back in action tonight on Tuesday, Jan. 26 when they travel to Houghton to take on the 5-1 Michigan Tech Huskies in a rivalry showdown. Tip-off from Tech’s Student Development Center Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m.
