It’s that time of the year again where Casualties Skate and Snow shop hosts another video premier e of snowboarding’s top athletes. “The Art of FLIGHT,” promises not only to deliver unprecedented non-stop action but also a meaningful storytelling of what these athletes must endure to make this production possible.
This year will be slightly different however; for the first time ever, Red Bull has joined forces with Casualties in order to bring this premiere to life and spares no expense when it comes to giving the audience a better sense at what’s involved in this production.
“Every year the premieres get better and better and we always want to deliver a killer production to the students as well as the general public,” said Dean Ferrari, Redbull Student Brand Manager. “’The Art of FLIGHT’ is going to have a little something for everyone. It’s a great way to get people who are passionate about the sport and come together to have a good time.”
“The Art of FLIGHT” follows snowboarder Travis Rice, along with some of the best riders in the world such as two-time Rider of the Year John Jackson, Mark Landvik, Olympic medalist Scotty Lago, Pat Moore and many others on a two-year quest to redefine what’s possible on a snowboard.
Courtesy of the Red Bull press release, Rice said that without the dedication of the riders and their willingness to travel the world, none of this would ever be possible.
“Through the riders’ full immersion into the making of this film, we are able to show in the truest way what it is like for us to travel to some of the most remote places on earth and search out the most dynamic terrain and conditions,” Rice said. “Our triumphs and tribulations are conveyed in this darker, more dramatic film. Throughout we walk a fine line between when to keep pushing it and when to pull back.”
Ferrari agrees that while the purpose of the production is to entertain, people need to get a better sense of what snowboarding is today and what it takes to make a video premiere successful.
“The Art of FLIGHT” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the Verabar. This will be the only showing of this premiere. Once the premiere is concluded, there will be an after-party with door prizes and entertainment from Double Trouble DJ’s. The after-party will go from 9:45 p.m. until midnight. Admission is free.
