An 18-year-old man was hospitalized after falling off of Black Rocks in Marquette Friday, Aug. 28th.
According to a statement issued by the Marquette City Police Department, officers were dispatched along with the Marquette City Fire Department at 8:27 p.m. to Presque Isle Island to a person who had fallen off a cliff.
Police identified the man as Maxwell Hardy of Kewaskum, Wisconsin.
Police said Hardy was with his friends at the time of the incident.

NMU’s directory lists a Maxwell Hardy as a resident of West Hall.
Hardy was transported by ambulance to UP Health Systems Marquette. Hospital officials declined to comment on his condition citing patient privacy policies.
Police were assisted at the scene by the U.S. Coast Guard.

I’m afraid that,due to the clumsiness or stupidity of some,the Marquette City Council is going to close Presque Isle Park totally,for fear of lawsuits. Sad thing is,it could happen. They’ve already banned swimming at Picnic Rocks,so don’t laugh. Perhaps they’ll install a ten foot chain link fence to cut off the Black Rocks from human use. I say,we should all have a right to do stupid stuff,with no right to sue in case the consequences are dire. The city should not have to be the concerned parent,protecting us from harm. Your life should be your responsibility and your risk.
