The NMU flag in the academic mall will be lowered to half-staff Tuesday to honor the passing of sophomore fish and wildlife management major Guiancarlo “Carlo” Estupigan, according to a campus-wide message sent on Monday.
Estupigan worked in professor Alec Lindsay’s biology lab, was known for his love of birds, fishing, photography and the outdoors and was planning to participate in a research trip to Zambia this summer, the message said. According to his family, Estupigan loved Northern and his professors.
In the message, NMU extended its condolences to Estupigan’s family, friends and classmates during this time of their great loss and expressed its gratitude to all those involved with the search.
