Homecoming events are on the horizon and students are ready to get creative with paint, canvases and mocktails.

Mocktails on Canvas will be held at the Lydia M. Olson Library atrium on Monday, Sept. 12 from 7:30 – 9 p.m. Canvases and painting supplies will be provided for students attending.

Ali Deutsch, a junior at NMU and a double major in public relations and political science, is the special events coordinator at the Center for Student Enrichment. Deutsch said she was inspired by this year’s Homecoming theme of “Create NMU” when planning out events for the year.

“I wanted an event that matched with the theme of homecoming, but that also allowed for a more calm environment for individuals who want to get involved and meet new people, but that maybe aren’t the competitive type,” Deutsch said.

Students attending the event can expect a relaxing evening with calming coffee shop tunes, Shirley Temple mocktails and painting.

“Come prepared with ideas and be ready to create. This isn’t a guided painting session, but an opportunity to express your creativity,” Deutsch said.
