The 27th annual campus-wide Celebration of Student Scholarship hosted by Graduate Studies and Research will commence this Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Jamrich 1320.

Undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines are recognized for research and academic contributions through presenting research posters, recorded oral presentations, creatively written pieces and artwork, poster exhibits and much more, said Tesse Sayen, interim director of research development and sponsored programs.

“We have an opening ceremony that will be a presentation of awards and a note on the importance of research by Brock Tessman, our president,” Sayen said. We will also have over 100 posters that will be presented alongside 11 oral presentations.”

There is lots of opportunity for students to share research with both the NMU and greater Marquette communities, and all are welcome to join, Sayen said.

At the celebration there are opportunities to network and build interdisciplinary projects across campus.

“There are a lot of opportunities to get to know people across campus, but to get to see somebody explain their research to a new person and spark that excitement and joy in what they’re doing when it comes to the academic side of things,” Sayen said. “I like the fact that it’s another connector for people to get to know each other in a different frame than other places on campus.”
