PrimeTime Productions, a student organization sponsored by Housing and Residence Life, is hosting a Silent Disco Friday, March 15 in the Hedgcock Atrium at 8 p.m.
This event is part of Spread Goodness Week at NMU, a week-long celebration of “an explosive atmosphere of empowerment that the simplest acts of goodness change the world every single day,” according to the NMU Human Resources Department.
“Spread Goodness Week is all about bringing joy to yourself and others,” said Mitchell Fugate, a member of PrimeTime. “What better way to do that than to forget about classes and everything else and just jam out to music for an hour or two.”
PrimeTime hosted a decades-themed Silent Disco last year in the Lodge, making it a fan favorite on campus.
“Silent Disco is an event that has become a bit of a staple for PrimeTime,” Fugate said. “Every year, the biggest question we get is, ‘when are you doing silent disco again?’”
Fugate says attendees will be given headphones that can be switched between stations controlled by DJs. The music selection will feature oldies, rap, pop, country and several other genres.
“Students should make sure to come by whether or not they like to dance, as it’s still a unique experience and a great time to hang out with friends and listen to music,” Fugate said.
In addition to Silent Disco, the student organization also hosted a Build-a-Buddy on Monday, March 11 in which students created their own stuffed animal.
In the past, PrimeTime has brought comedians, writers and magicians to campus. To get involved with the group, Fugate says interested students can attend the organization’s weekly meetings in the Hunt & Van Antwerp Halls lobby every Friday at 1 p.m.
