This past Wednesday, students and faculty passed through the lower level of the Lydia Olson Library, grabbing something to eat at Fieras or enjoying the Commuter Lounge. More than 200 people experienced local music legends Jim and Ray playing for Spread Goodness Week.
This was just one of the many events Superior Edge and the Volunteer Center put on for the week. Other events included a plant giveaway, giving money to Starbucks in Jamrich Hall for students to get free drinks, a carnation giveaway, a comedy show from Northern Arts and Entertainment and Primetime Productions hosting a silent disco.
“One of our ideas was to bring Jim and Ray, U.P. music legends. Music is a great way to get people happy,” Superior Edge/Volunteer Center Coordinator Addi Pavlo said. “They were very excited to come play today.”
Pavlo added that there were some troubles with finding a place for the musicians.
“We were trying to think of areas to put them, because obviously it is a little difficult with the library closed and limited seating everywhere,” Pavlo said. “We thought that enough people passed by here enough that they can enjoy it.”
Based on the event’s success, the Superior Edge/Volunteer Center might bring Jim and Ray back for next year’s Spread Goodness Week.
“Even though it is just a week, you can spread goodness all the time,” Pavlo said.
