The 125th NMU Homecoming celebration kicked off Sunday afternoon with one of the university’s longest-standing traditions the Dead River Games.

Being held at a new location in Tourist Park this year, the event brought together students from all the residence halls, a fun-filled series of competitive relay races.

Teams battled it out in the three events. First, the Ice Cream Drop, a fan favorite, where one team member scoops ice cream from the top of a ladder while others attempt to catch it in their mouths from the ground below. Then an Obstacle Course, where students tested their speed and agility on the inflatable course with added twists and turns. Finally, The Log Roll, a new addition this year, as teams tried their best to stay balanced on a floating log in water.

With tons of wipeouts, laughter echoed through the park as classmates cheered on their peers.
