Golf carts, candy and campus pride shine at 125th Homecoming Parade

The homecoming celebration for NMU’s 125th year continued with its annual parade last Friday afternoon with students, faculty and community members lining the streets to watch.

The parade, which began at the Berry Events Center, proceeded down Third Street and looped back up Front Street, giving many spectators a chance to enjoy the spectacle. The golf cart decorating competition always adds an extra layer of fun to the festivities. Residence halls, club sports teams and student organizations all competed to match this year’s theme, “Yearbook: Notes from Northern – Celebrating 125 Years!”

Following the parade, NMU hosted a free concert in the gravel lot behind the Superior Dome. Wildcat Sami Brown played the opening set to the concert, right after playing in a game for the women’s soccer team. Following Brown’s hour of tunes, country music duo Maddie & Tae took the stage.
