The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) held a bake sale to raise money for future music educators on Oct. 2 and 3. The fundraiser was held at the Jamrich Ticket Booth and the group was able to raise $170.

The baked goods were donated by the members and staff of the music department. These goodies included rice Krispies, monster brownies, double chocolate chip cookies, small brownies and gluten-free brownie balls.

“It’s a fundraiser for our program so that we can go to different conferences. For example, we will be going to the Michigan Music Conference downstate,” music education student Elizabeth Pike said.

The combined efforts of everyone involved in contributing to the fundraiser will help to foster growth and education within NMU, which aligns with the university’s main mission and vision.

“Music is a tight knit community. It’s good to support each other and get more out of our education,” Pike said.

This event also shows the importance of supporting similar fundraisers to help fellow students and communities achieve their full potential. To find more ways to contribute, check the Hub for any future fundraisers.
