Women’s club lacrosse team bakes success

Categories:

Northern Michigan’s club women’s lacrosse team hosted a bake sale in the Jamrich Hall ticket booth on Oct. 15.

The lacrosse team sold baked goods to raise money for new gear, transportation to games and funds for their team bonding outings. By selling baked goods like rice Krispies, chocolate chip cookies and cheesecake slices, the team was able to raise $200.

“The school does not really give [clubs] money,” Price-Williams said. “It’s good to support bake sale fundraisers to support people and their organizations.”

In addition to raising money, the bake sale also brought the team closer together while they bonded over creating and selling their baked goods.

“Honestly, it was just really fun talking to random people and trying to get them to buy our stuff for our team,” Price-Williams said.

With 17 minutes left of allotted time for the bake sale the baked goods had been sold out, and the team had to turn away potential customers.

“Today’s bake sale was a major success,” team member Janelle Harris said. “We raised a lot of money for the team. [We received] a lot of support, whether it was just donations or people wanted to actually buy some baked goods.”

Club President Jada Price-Williams encourages students to purchase items from any bake sales across campus so student organizations can raise necessary funds.
