Redshirt Junior Dylan Kuehl hit 1,000 career points over the weekend, helping the Wildcats to another victory against Concordia Wisconsin. Kuehl ended the game with 26 points made, which became a season high, which helped bring the score of the game to 70-58. The team is currently at a record to 4-2.
Kuehl just became the 35th player in NMU history to get to 1,000 career points, and the first player since 2022. He had a 72.7 percentage, going 8-11, and also added two blocks, four rebounds, along with three assists and a steal. The only other player to find double digits during the game was Sam Privet, who brought 11 points and 10 rebounds to the board. This game was not easy though, with Concordia putting up a strong fight and holding the lead of the game for over four minutes.
Concordia added the first few points to the board, with NMU slowly putting points to the score shortly after. At the break, the score was 29-28 in NMU’s favor. Coming back into play, Concordia held their largest lead in the game, with the score being 34-31. After back to back play, Concordia had their last lead of the game, with the score being 53-51.
Of the last 24 points, 19 of those points were scored from the Wildcats. Within the first half of the game, the Wildcats went 10-20 and then 11-22 in the second half. That brought them to an even 50% average. The Falcons had an average of 45.1, but they were able to bring it up to 54.5%.
There were over 37 free throws made, with NMU attempting 32 of them. 24 of those free throws made it to the net. Their percentage of those free throws came out to an even 85%.
Shortly before the long holiday weekend, the Wildcats faced off against both Minnesota State-Moorhead and Minnesota Duluth, where they were handed their first losses of the season. They were both very close games, with the scores being 71-82 and 67-79 respectively. Following a well deserved Thanksgiving break, the team was able to come back together and persevere in the game against Concordia.
