An on-campus opportunity to find your harmony, NMU WellBeing is collaborating with NMU’s Music Department to bring music and mindfulness to students.

On Tuesday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m., “Empower Hour: Music and Mindfulness” will take place. The event is designed to demonstrate how you can incorporate mindfulness into your day through music.

Taking advantage of these events is a unique way to put yourself and your well-being first throughout the school week. Midterms are a challenging season for many students, and a music break could be exactly what you need.

“We are going to share how music facilitates wellness using NMU’s WellBeing Wheel as a framework. Attendees will be invited to participate in experiential activities, which are paired with live and recorded music,” said music professor Theresa Camilli.

Students have the opportunity to participate or simply observe the demonstrations and performances hosted by Dr. Theresa Camilli and two piano students.

“Incorporating music into our day with intention can be a powerful tool that costs nothing but brings great reward,” said Camilli.

A simple yet effective way to brighten your day, students are encouraged to attend the event and participate in the experiential activities it has to offer.

WellBeing and the Music Department are both ecstatic about the collaboration making its way to the student body. With a mix of event planning and the expertise of professors and students, the event will offer a unique and beneficial activity for all students who wish to participate.
