Loud music, funny costumes, next-level choreography and a pure display of talents— you know it and you love it. The annual NMU Lip Sync Battle, hosted by the Special Events Committee (SEC) and the Student Athletic Advisory Council, is making its way back to campus. This is an opportunity for student-athletes and members of clubs and organizations to spill their hearts out via song and dance, and an event that no one wants to miss.
Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m., students will be taking to the stage in the Northern Center Grand Ballrooms for a friendly competition. The SEC will be opening the doors for those who intend on being in the audience at 6:30 p.m.
“[We want] to have fun and bring an event that has been a NMU tradition since I’ve started attending NMU,” said Tas Stoetzner, director of the SEC. “Last year was huge, and the goal is to always top what happened the year before.”
There will be an added twist to keep audience members more involved in the event this year, in the form of a scavenger hunt for those who will not be grooving with the others in the competition.
“This is a yearly event for the Special Events Committee and the Student Athletic Advisory Council. It connects the students with the student-athletes who we support at their sporting events,” Stoetzner said. “This is a way of friendly competition between students and athletes.”
This event is yet another way that students and community members of Northern can foster connections and support through friendly competition. This event is completely free to attend, so gather up your friends and get ready for a good time.
