Women’s soccer ended the regular season with one final win over Purdue Northwest. Closing out the regular season the team traveled to Indiana to play the final game of the regular season against a GLIAC team they have not played this season. The Wildcats walked out of the regular season with a closeout win 1-0 over the rival. The one and only goal of the night was scored by Wildcat senior midfielder Kenna Alexander.

After getting the win and closing out the regular season, the team moved onto the GLIAC championship tournament. Last season the team was crowned winners of the GLIAC tournament before they headed into the NCAA playoffs, falling in the first game.

This year the ‘Cats are off to a great post season start as the team played in a mid-week quarter-finals game down in Grand Rapids. The ‘Cats took on fourth-ranked in the GLIAC, Ferris State, a team who’s best performance against the ‘Cats this season was a tie, 1-1.

The quarter-finals were no different as the Wildcats, led by first-time head coach Erin Egolf, pulled off the win with no goals from Ferris State. The Wildcats scored 2 goals in the game, one from senior Hannah Kastamo and again from Alexander, leading the team into the next round of the tournament.

The team will now head into the semi-finals this weekend. The team will take on the No. 1 ranked team in the GLIAC, Grand Valley.

Earlier this season, when the Wildcats played Grand Valley, the ‘Cats fell once 0-4 then again later in the season 0-3 as they hope to not fall again to Grand Valley for a third time this season. The semi-final game will kick off this Friday at 1 p.m.

This year the tournament is hosted at Grand Valley as well. If the ‘Cats come out atop of Grand Valley, the team will move into the final game of the tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m.
