After 131 days of working without a contract and mediation between the administration, the faculty union, NMU-AAUP, finally voted in favor of ratifying the most recent five-year contract proposal.

NMU’s Board of Trustees (BOT) held a special meeting via zoom, beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday Oct. 28, in which they approved the audited financial statements for the previous year, assessed the next year’s budget and heard many student and faculty members speak on topics of interest to the community.
STUDENT SUPPORT—The student organization, Student Supporting Professors, marched on Monday, Oct. 26, from The Woods to the University Center to show support for faculty with their ongoing contract mediations.

Northern Michigan University's faculty union, NMU-AAUP, continues to fight for a contract as they now cross over the 100-day mark without one.

MOVING FORWARD—The ratification vote  over the proposed contract held on Tuesday resulted in a down vote against the contract at a 137 to 92.

NMU-AAUP voted down on Sept. 28 for the proposed faculty contract.
YES OR NO—NMU-AAUP union members casted their votes on Thursday to decide whether or not the executive committee would be able to call a strike. Results came Saturday with an overwhelming favor of giving the committee permission to call for a strike at 183 to 35.

Results from NMU-AAUP's strike authorization vote have revealed an overwhelming amount of support in favor of the executive committee being able to call a strike with a 183 to 35 vote.

TAKING A VOTE—With contract negotiation mediations entering its second month, NMU-AAUP now are holding a strike authorization vote to decide whether or not they are able to go on strike.

NMU-AAUP voted on the possibility of going on strike Thursday evening during their regularly scheduled contract negotiation meeting. Ballot results are expected to be revealed on Saturday.
CONTRACT MEDIATION—The faculty union at NMU, NMU-AAUP, are still working without a contract. Recently the union responded to a clarification email sent out by President Fritz Erickson.
