Presidential finalists to visit campus, presidential search forum on Friday

Four candidates for the ongoing presidential search will visit campus between Sept. 15 and 22. Forums will be held for non-represented employees, faculty, staff and students for participation in picking the new president for NMU.

As NMU continues its search for a president to replace Fritz Erickson, we at the North Wind have given some thought to the type of individual we believe would be an ideal candidate. As students we appreciate the administration’s efforts to take student and community voices into account through listening sessions during this process. We hope NMU will listen to the voices who speak up during these forums.

It has now been over a week since the Board of Trustees unexpectedly terminated former President of the university Fritz Erickson on Sept. 24. For several days after the event, blindsided students watched and rewatched the meeting, analyzing each word spoken by BOT members, trying to fully understand the abrupt termination.
