It is likely that you or someone you know has witnessed an act of hate towards an Asian American in the last year. A third of Americans, 33%, admitted to having witnessed someone blaming Asians for the COVID-19 pandemic in an April 2020 poll by Ipsos.

Displaying the Thin Blue Line Flag as a means of showing support for the police is under increased scrutiny due to the flag’s adoption by white supremacist groups, like those involved in the violent insurrection at the capitol on January 6, and the related use of the flag as a statement of opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Opinion—Just because it doesn’t affect you, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t care

It is human nature for us to ignore outside problems, because they simply don't affect us directly. If a situation doesn’t involve us, it’s hard to care, and that’s the reality of our society. However, the instance of Black Lives Matter can’t be one of those times where you don’t care. It’s selfish to think otherwise.
