The Veteran Affairs Department apologized to a Connecticut man after a scalpel was allegedly left inside him for years after surgery. The scalpel was used during Glenford Taylor’s surgery in 2013 and was not discovered until March of 2017, when Taylor went to the hospital citing dizziness. After an MRI, the scalpel was located in Taylor’s abdomen after putting him severe pain due to the combination of magnet and metal. The Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee called the allegation a “truly egregious act of malpractice.”
