October is wrapping up, which means the leaves have changed and the temperature has dropped. For many, now is the time to begin Halloween festivities at NMU.

Associated Students of NMU (ASNMU) shares this idea and is set to host a Trunk-or-Treat event on Oct. 26. from 3 – 5 p.m. Students will be able to collect loads of candy and work on fall-themed crafts. The event will be hosted to kick off the NMU vs. Arizona State hockey game.

“ASNMU decided to host this event because it is a great way to get in the community while having a good time,” Chair of academic affairs for ASNMU Kelly Ryan said. “After such a successful Wildcat Market, we wanted to continue to put on these events directly for students, and we thought bringing back Trunk-or-Treat would be a perfect way to do that.”

Businesses, student organizations and other groups from the community will be handing out candy. Students can sign up for a trunk in the event on the Hub and are encouraged to wear costumes and participate in celebrating the Halloween season.

“If you’re not interested in having a trunk, college students are encouraged to trick-or-treat at the event,” Ryan said. “There will be plenty of candy, and we want to have a space where students feel comfortable having a throwback to good times of trick or treating.”
