Keeping Jamrich cozy, First Impressions hosted a hat and glove giveaway in collaboration with the Share The Warmth Campaign. Students and community members were encouraged to pick up new sets of gloves and a hat to keep warm during this swiftly approaching winter season.

The Share The Warmth Campaign is promoted by former NFL Dallas Cowboys Player Sean Jordan. The initiative of the program is to connect with universities and collaborate with student organizations who work closely with students, focusing on their mental health. The Great Lakes Recovery Center, First Impressions and the WellBeing Center worked together to bring this program to Northern’s campus.

In addition to the tables filled with hats and gloves, there were multiple booths providing mental health information. All information was offered to participants who are looking for personal help or looking to gain more knowledge on the topic of mental health in students. For those who chose to stick around, there was hot chocolate and cookies for them to enjoy on their way out.

“We had someone come up very excited to get a pair of gloves, it’s just nice to see that the goal of the event is coming into fruition and people are spreading joy,” Graduate Assistant with the Center of Student Enrichment Jordon Brown said.

Brown was set with the task of bringing this event to campus, and thought it was a great leadership opportunity. She is passionate about the cause and spreading warmth through the chilly seasons.

The excitement from attendees was contagious as students expressed their gratitude for the warm clothing and mental health resources available. For many, the event was a reminder that there are a number of ways to support one another during the colder months. Brown emphasized that events like this help strengthen the campus community, creating a space where everyone feels valued and cared for.

“I just want people to know that as we head into winter especially as we have had our first snow fall there are people that are willing to help and you are not alone and it’s cold, but there really is warmth everywhere,” Brown said.
