NMU Career Services celebrated National Student Employment week on April 14-18 to recognize the work put in by student employees and student employment professionals.

Career Services began the week by announcing that the first 90 students who entered the office would receive a chocolate Willy bar from Sayklly’s Confectionery and Gifts. On top of this, student employees could enter a free t-shirt giveaway.

“The purpose of these events are to thank the students for the positive impact they make on campus,” said Kara Cox, executive administrative assistant for Career Services. “National Student Employment Week is [celebrated] to recognize the value of student employees and student employment professionals.”

Employees at Career Services are aiming to make students feel appreciated for the work they do on campus.

“It’s nice for our hard work to be recognized because being a student employee means balancing work, classes and extracurriculars,” said Chloe LaForest, student receptionist and content creator for Career Services. “The things the departments do to show their appreciation remind us that our efforts don’t go unnoticed.”

Throughout the week, students seemed thankful for the gifts.

“The students have been excited and grateful for the small token of appreciation,” said Emily Schweikart, principal administrative assistant for Career Services.
