During one of the last glimpses into the wonderful summer weather Marquette had to offer these past few months, NMU took the opportunity to host its beloved Wildcat Farmers Market.
The buzzing of participants interacting with vendors consisting of fellow students and community members reminded everyone why this event is on so many students’ “must attend” lists.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Northerns ASNMU brought back their hit event from last year, allowing students to make the most of the farmers market from behind or in front of the booths were flooding with creativity and local charm. There was a variety of booths and trades available during the event including custom apparel, yarn creations, jewelry, baked and farm goods.
“I think it’s going to be a continued tradition, because it’s nice to see students also showing off what they can make and do,” said student Bianca Kroll.
Students can use the farmers market as a chance to gain traction and real world market experience for their products while sharing the love and passion that lies within their craft.
“It is an opportunity for students to sell at a market similar to the Marquette Farmers Market, which is a little bit larger scale,” Said Lex Klamer, a student Vendor. “And it’s just a celebration of people doing what they want to do. And I think it’s a really lovely way for people to get the things they create out there.”

Students may not be able to sell at the formal markets during the summer for a number of reasons. However, Marquette’s collaboration with the university has created a strong community-based relationship, giving students and staff the chance to support one another in creative and frequent ways.
Events like the market showcase how campus and community partnerships can thrive. By blending student innovation with Marquette’s established traditions, the market becomes more than an event—it becomes a reflection of the shared values of creativity and togetherness.
“I think it’s bringing people together and showing that we’re all creative,” Kroll said. “I feel like we’re seeing it a lot today, and we’ll continue to keep seeing it throughout the community.”
