NMU Weapons Policy

A university ordinance states that anything capable of firing a projectile is a gun and is illegal to possess on campus. This includes Airsoft guns, BB guns, Nerf guns, Paintball guns, squirt guns, rifles, handguns and bows and arrows. Students are required to store weapons at Public Safety, where they must fill out a form to receive a claim tag. To use a stored weapon, students must sign it out and present the tag. The weapon must remain off-campus until the student returns it to Public Safety.
