NMU swimmers to open season with intrasquad meet

The NMU swim team looks to make a splash this season as they kick off their season Saturday, Oct. 6, when they compete in the Green and Gold meet.

The Green and Gold meet is an annual intra-squad scrimmage which offers the ‘Cats a chance to warm-up before facing tougher competition.

This years Green and Gold meet will be Bob Laughna’s first meet as NMU head coach. Laughna took over following Jon Wilson’s departure to become head swimming coach at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

NMU will rely on a strong group of experienced swimmers to improve on last years 8th place Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) finish. Returning to the team are seniors Sarah Dobratz and Amelia Marschall. They will be joined by juniors, Katherine Stamerjohn, Joanna Pollack, Emily Olson, Meghan Merkey, Courtney Lowry, Lindsey Kuehn and Hannah Bolger.
