NMU golf hosts lone tournament of the year

Northern’s golf team held its lone home tournament of the year this past weekend, at the Marquette Golf Club. The invite was host to 13 teams, with Grand Valley taking the crown at a three-round total of 847.

Indianapolis University earned a second-place finish with an 858 and Wayne State rounded out the top three at 871. NMU would end in 12th place with a final score of 947.

In individual scores Justin Hueber of IU took first at 205, second went to Kurt Valley who was behind Hueber by three strokes at 208 and Joe McGeean in third with 209.

Topping the scores for the ‘Cats were sophomore Ben Fulcher and senior Tim Hartung tying for 52 with a 236. Steve Pope, a sophomore, was 54 with a 238, while sophomore Tom Sarasin shot a 240 and freshman Cody Robinson 245.

The next match for the Wildcats is September 21-22 at the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional.
