Pride remains the only thing on the line for the 10th ranked Findley Oilers (2-6, 1-6) and the 11th ranked Northern Michigan Wildcat (1-6, 1-6) football teams this weekend. Both teams are harnessing a six game losing streak giving the chance for one team to end the season on a good note.
The Wildcats will be back in the Superior Dome after a two game road stint, with its most recent game a 49-25 loss to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association (GLIAC) opponent Hillsdale.
Offensively the ‘Cats will be lead by the youth of red-shirt freshman quarterback Carter Kopach who has thrown for 771 yards on the season with seven scores and six interceptions. Freshman running back Brandon Smith will start his second game of the season, with junior back, Mark Bossuah out to injury.
Junior linebacker and senior safety Nathan Yelk and Alex Grignon direct the Wildcat defense.
Over the last six games the Oilers have been outscored 157-82 by opponents.
Junior wideout Mike Chambers, a University of Minnesota transfer, leads the offense with 52 catches for 598 yards and three scores on the year. Junior linebacker Joe Knopick ranks second in the GLIAC in tackles, with 95 on the year.
Game time is set for 1:00 in the Superior Dome.
