Northern Nooks – varsity hockey locker room

Touring the ins and outs of NMU’s campus

There are many places on campus that the everyday student doesn’t know about. Those places are the focus of Northern Nooks, a new online video tour of the little known spots that furthers students’ experiences at NMU.

This week, Northern Nooks dons its green and gold and enters the Wildcats’ varsity hockey locker room in the Berry Events Center with this week’s tour guide Justin Florek. Florek is a junior forward from Marquette and a fifth round draft pick by the Boston Bruins.

Starting from the on-ice bench, Florek highlights areas like the team workout room, training room and video area. In the dressing room where the players keep their pads and skates, Florek explains what happens when a person steps on the Wildcat head in the middle of the room, and we get to meet up with Coach Walt Kyle’s dog.
