Car goes up in flames

Marquette police and firefighters reported to a vehicle fire last Wednesday afternoon.

A beige 1993 Jeep Cherokee caught fire Wednesday, March 16 around noon at the corner of Seventh Street and West Kaye Avenue.  The vehicle was unattended, and flames were reported coming from the engine area, according to the police report.  Officer Schneiderhan was the first on the scene and blocked traffic at Seventh and Magnetic Street and waited for the fire department.

The vehicle owner, Ryan Peace, 22, of Marquette, could not be located and the vehicle was towed.  Schneiderhan later made contact with owner via telephone and Peace stated there were no problems with the vehicle prior to the fire.  The fire was ruled an accident.
