Track and field team starts indoor season

The Wildcat track & field team is opening their outdoor season at the Augustana Viking Olympics on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 in Rock Island, Ill.

The team finished the first half of their season on March 12 at NCAA Indoor Championships.

“We have had three weeks of solid training since our break after the indoor season,” Ryan said. “The team is ready to get back at competing and get a good start to the outdoor season.  It will be great to see where we are at and continue preparations for the outdoor championships.”

The Wildcats have never been to this meet but will be competing against 19 schools from Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota, a mixture of Division II and Division III schools.

“We are looking forward to continuing the success we had indoors and keep moving up in the conference,” Ryan said. “The team is working hard and has a great attitude.”

Junior thrower Jasmine Williams said she and the team are excited for the upcoming race to start the outdoor season.

“We have been physically prepared all this month for this upcoming meet and the many more we have scheduled,” Williams said. “All we can do now is keep a positive mindset, support others and appreciate the opportunity to continue doing the sport we all love.”

Williams is looking forward for the upcoming season.

“Our team has been working very hard transitioning into the outdoor season,” Williams said. “We are looking forward to many improvements and maybe even break some schools records. We are excited to see how these very talented ladies compete outdoors.”
