About us

The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

Nordic Skiing Brief

After two weeks off, the Wildcats participated in the Birkie CCSA and Junior Cup Races in Cable, Wisconsin. Senior Vivian Hett placed third in the five-kilometer classic with four other Wildcats finishing in the top 10. Sunday, in the freestyle event, Hett again, was the top Wildcat finisher with a time of 26:10:40, good for second place overall. Anikken Gjerde-Alnaes and Julie Ensrud finished third and fourth respectively for Northern. NMU will compete again next Saturday and Sunday when they compete in the Minnesota-Duluth CCSA race.
