About us

The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

Freshman lacrosse attack/midfielder Emily Dvorak scored four goals and registered an assist for NMU in her first college game on the road last weekend against Wheeling Jesuit University. Dvoark is a strong forward who coach Amilia Ward expects to be a leader for the nine freshman on the women’s lacrosse roster. In NMU’s exhibition match to start the season, Dvorak scored three points, a goal and two assists while also registering six shots on goal.
