About us

The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

Wildcat of the week

Freshman goaltender Emily Karbaum helped guide the Wildcat Lacrosse team to their first victory in seven matches after stopping 18 of 34 shots. Karbaum has 113 saves this season, placing her fourth in the GLIAC and 35th overall in Division II lacrosse. Karbaum is also ranked 14th in Division II with 11.3 saves per game.
