After the student election last semester, Associated Students of Northern Michigan University (ASNMU) President Cassidy Gibson has begun her tenure for the fall semester and is ready to go to work for students.

“I am super excited,” Gibson said. “I was here all summer for the orientation and tabling. We had a bunch of orientation events and I was able to speak with incoming freshman at their orientation sessions. That was really cool to see all the new faces.”

Gibson is eager to deliver on the campaign promises she ran on and is excited to work with other ASNMU members to make them happen.

“Everything I ran on last semester, I have to work very closely with Halle [Johnson, Voice of the Assembly] to help me get it done,” Gibson said.

Gibson is currently focusing on the Constitutional Committee and working on campus legislature that is outdated and/or contradictory, setting expectations for their different governing bodies to help improve efficiency, making sure Student Affairs are going to student organization meetings to help ASNMU hear voices of the students they represent, getting into the habit of passing more bills like the bereavement policy and much more.

Student organizations who are looking to have ASNMU attend their meetings can email the student government at [email protected].
