On Nov 20 the club Equity for All held a bake sale in Jamrich called the Wage Gap bake sale to spread awareness about the wage gap issue in America.

All of the Proceeds went to the Marquette Women’s Center. Customers were asked to pay the equivalent of what they make working for every dollar a white man makes.

“An example of this is me, as a white woman, I would pay 83 cents to the $1 that a white man would pay, and so on and so forth,” club member Leila Heuser said.

The overall goal of the bake sale was to educate students about the wage gap.

“It’s more to promote a conversation and let people know that the year is 2025, and we are still facing these discrepancies, whether or not we’d like to believe it,” Heuser said.

Members of the club hope that students learned more about the wage gap, an issue that frequently gets overlooked.

“I just hope that everybody has the opportunity to learn something new. I think this is an issue that gets swept under the rug, especially in the current political climate,” Heuser said.

The Wage Gap Bake Sale enforces the overall goal of the club, which is to unite and spread awareness.

“What is most important is the theme of unity and the education service and leadership that the club works to promote,” Heuser said.

The club meets at 4:30 pm every Friday in the Magers/Meyland lobby, and they are always looking for new members.
