The annual TV6 Holiday Craft Show is set to take place in the Superior Dome on Dec. 5, 6 and 7 with over 250 vendors in attendance. There will be a variety of items to shop for including gourmet foods, art, upcycled clothing and more. Tickets to enter the craft show are $3 and children 12 and under get in for free.
NMU students are very involved with the show, as many will be in attendance selling their homemade items and helping set up. The show will also feature many sellers who are native to Marquette and the Upper Peninsula as well as Lower Peninsula and out-of-state crafters.
“It’s amazing how many [vendors] from lower Michigan and Wisconsin are in attendance, they’re not afraid to drive this far because they know it’s a very good show for them,” said Nancy Webster, TV6 craft show coordinator.
Webster said the craft show has been held annually for over 25 years and is a great way to get people together to help the community, especially in the winter. The show usually has around 8,000 to 10,000 attendees yearly.
“The restaurants fill up, the motels fill up, shopping is done locally, so it’s very good for the community,” she said.
Additionally, the show is a time for community members to donate to local nonprofits.
“Certain nonprofits like the Marine Corps will be there. They’re collecting for toys for tots,” Webster said. “The Quilts for Valor [Foundation] comes, they get a space and their quilts help veterans. We also usually have a Salvation Army bell ringer.”
