About us

The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

    November 11th Snowstorm: Before & After Pictures & Video

    A massive winter storm system made its way into Upper Michigan over the past 24 hours. Here is some before and after pictures of a couple of locations around campus. The University remains closed until 5 p.m. today. The decision to cancel evening classes will be determined before 2 p.m. If you are driving please use extra caution. When it doubt, don’t go out. Keep up to date on The North Wind’s Facebook and Twitter pages to stay updated on the very latest.
