About us

The North Wind is an independent student publication serving the Northern Michigan University community. It is partially funded by the Student Activity Fee. The North Wind digital paper is published daily during the fall and winter semesters except on university holidays and during exam weeks. The North Wind Board of Directors is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty, administration and area media.

School & Event Cancellations

NMU will remain closed today November 11, 2014. Evening classes are cancelled.


The PEIF Rec Area is open from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m 


City of Marquette Street Closures

Temporarily Closures:

– Lakeshore Blvd from Hawley to Fair Ave.

– Wright Street between Lakeshore and Presque Isle.

– Pine Street from Fair Ave. to Lakeshore Ave.

-The parking lot at Picnic Rock Park, located at the intersection of Fair Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard.

-Park Cemetery will be closed until further notice.

Seasonal Roads:

Peter White Drive, the road around Presque Isle, will be closed for the season.

Mt. Marquette Road will be closed for the season.


 

Effective Nov. 11, bagged leaf collection for the city of Marquette as been suspended due to the inclement weather. Notification will be sent out when the collection will resume.


NMU Clubs and Organizations

Public Eye News has been cancelled for today.

The regular meeting of 4 Reels tonight has been cancelled. 


NMU Art Department: Individual Art Review (303)

According on an email sent out last week:

If a cancellation of classes and/or closure of the University due to inclement weather should occur during the scheduled AD 303 Individual Art Review, the following will apply:

1. Cancelled classes on Monday (10th) — the Monday group will be rescheduled on Wed (12th)

2. Cancelled classes on Tues day (11th) — the Tuesday group will be rescheduled on Thursday (13th)

3. Cancelled classes both Mon/Tue (10/11) — Monday will be rescheduled on Wednesday and Tuesday will be rescheduled on Thursday

For those of you not enrolled in AD 303, please note that should any of the rescheduling of classes listed above be implemented, an email from your Art and Design instructor with class status will be forwarded to you.
