Following the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan and the U.S. withdrawal there, a great deal of energy has been devoted to understanding what happened and why. For those who would like to explore complexities and understand this situation more fully, there will be a virtual academic lecture titled “Afghanistan in Ruins.” Speaking at this talk will be Adam Weinstein.

Weinstein is a foreign policy expert and research fellow at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft with an area of expertise in the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan. He served as a U.S. Marine and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012.

His virtual lecture is sponsored by the World Affairs Council. It will take place on Monday, Sept. 27 from Noon to 1:30 p.m. Political Science Department Head Carter Wilson will stream the virtual lecture in Gries 233. The event is free and open to students.
