After receiving an enthusiastic response from students on a Platform Personalities poll earlier this semester, Brian Baumgartner will be visiting NMU’s campus on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. Baumgartner is most known for his role as Kevin Malone in the Emmy-winning sitcom “The Office” and will hopefully leave students laughing and with more knowledge about “The Office” then they ever thought they would know.

After acting as Kevin Malone, Baumgartner created two podcasts, “An Oral History of The Office” and “The Office Deep Dive w/ Brian Baumgartner,” and has recently published a book, “Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: The Ultimate Oral History of The Office.” Following the event, Baumgartner will have his book for sale and will sign copies for everyone who purchases his book.

Alec Mayo, a member of the Platform Personalities group that worked to bring Baumgartner to campus and an avid “The Office” fan, will be moderating the event.

In 2019, Platform Personalities brought another “The Office” star, Angela Kinsey who plays Angela Martin, to campus and had a great turnout. President of Platform Personalities Jakob Lippert is hoping for a similar reaction this week.

“The last time Platform [Personalites] brought an Office cast member to campus … it was a huge success and got great reviews, so I’m hoping for a similar result tomorrow,” Lippert said.

This event is a part of the Center for Student Enrichment’s goal to provide daily fun events to help students de-stress before finals. Other events in this series include free ice skating on Monday night and three members of Saturday Night Live on Wednesday.

“We hope that students who come to the event will have a fun time and get a break from studying for finals,” Lippert said. “I’m not a fan of ‘The Office’ myself, so I’m just excited for all the students that attend the event to have a fun time.”

Students can register for the event for free on the University tickets website or by showing their student ID at the door. Non-NMU attendees can attend for $5.
