Northern Michigan University has a limited number of COVID-19 at-home test kits available to students for free while supplies last. Kits can be picked up in the lobby of the NMU Health Center during business hours or at the NMU Police Department 24/7.

Interim President Kerri Schuiling wrote in her campus-wide email on Tuesday, Sept. 6 that Marquette County’s CDC COVID classification is back to low transmission. However, students and employees reported positive tests over the Labor Day holiday weekend and Schuiling reminded everyone to continue to stay vigilant in mitigation efforts.

Schuiling continues advising that everyone monitors for symptoms daily and if symptoms arise to mask up and get tested. In addition, wash hands regularly and mask indoors and when around people to increase your protection.

Those still looking to get their COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters can go to the NMU Health Center. To make an appointment, call the Health Center at 906-227-2355.

Schuiling wrote that when more information about the distribution of the newly FDA-approved COVID Omicron booster is available, [Schuiling] will pass that along.
