Career Services is hosting its summer employment fair for students searching for summer jobs, internships and other temporary opportunities this Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Northern Center Ballrooms.

Students do not have to sign up to attend but those who do sign up on Handshake will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of 10 $25 gift cards to small businesses.

Walker Derby, assistant director of Career Services, said there will be just shy of around 90 employers on site and actively greeting students.

“It’s great practice for getting yourself out there for presenting a resume, talking with people and networking,” Derby said. “So if you’re a little outside of your comfort zone in that way, this is a really safe environment to do that where you can talk to a lot of different people and get a good sense of what that feels like.”

There will also be an area set up for professional headshots, Derby said.

“Students need to come down and get those taken while they’re already dressed up and looking good,” Derby said. “If you’re a student who’s not quite sure where you want to go or what you want to be doing, it’s a great opportunity to network with potential employers.”

Students interested in preparing for the event can schedule an appointment with Career Services to go over resume tips, how to represent yourself at a job fair and interview skills. Any questions can be emailed to [email protected].
